Multicolored Kenworth trucks line the lots right beside the TransAm building. Each one boasts top- quality equipment with an automatic transmission and auxiliary power unit. Each TransAm truck is carefully inspected and maintained to provide each driver some of the best equipment on the road. But before these rigs can hit the road, the seal of approval starts with TransAm Body Shop Manager, Mike Smith. Mike has devoted his time and expertise to maintaining TransAm’s fleet. He has been a loyal team member of TransAm for 13 years, with 4 years as the Body Shop Manager. He has held a variety of roles at TransAm including Trailer Mechanic, Shop Foreman and Truck Shop Service Writer. Each role has prepared him for his current role as Body Shop Manager. His career success also derives from a strong work ethic. “Like anything in life, if you want to succeed, you have to stay after it and work hard. A strong work ethic is needed to work in this industry,” Mike advises.
From accident repairs to body work, Mike oversees and manages the flow and the efficiency of the TransAm Body Shop. Under his management, the body shop team will repair and inspect every truck to make sure it is in premium condition for our drivers and customers. But no one truck is ever the same; each repair requires meticulous inspection to analyze the mechanical issue and determine how to fix it. But that is an aspect that Mike has loved since he started as a mechanic in ’92. “My favorite thing about my role in the trucking industry is that no one day is ever the same. It gives me opportunity to learn new things.” He also thrives on the fast-paced environment of the Body Shop, overseeing the repair and maintenance of ONE Leasing and TransAm Trucking company trucks, managing the flow of trucks delivered in and transported out, and ensuring the process runs seamlessly.
It is leaders like Mike who ensure our fleet is held to a higher standard of safety and quality. Mike and his team are the force behind our fleet. Thank you Mike, for your unwavering commitment and leadership to your team. The multicolored Kenworth trucks lined up stand as a reminder of the impact your role has made.
